What we have done
We have studied the optical feasibility of the approach and designed a photonic glucose chip as a worked example.
ArtiSense / Photonic sensing
Exploring how light can reveal chemical information, with a miniaturized sensing system at the heart of the research.

Illustrative single-bus racetrack, not an ArtiSense device layout or a glucose calibration. A passive all-pass model uses round-trip amplitude a = 0.92, self-coupling t = 0.92 and FSR 16 nm. Sample loading shifts the resonance from 618 to 620 nm. The on-chip curve is transmission; the attached output wave is the transmitted field. Circulating light has a separate visual gain. Adding a sample can increase or decrease transmission depending on the input wavelength.
The project
ArtiSense investigates a photonic approach to chemical measurement. The intended system brings illumination, optical response and signal interpretation together in a compact architecture.
For researchers and engineering partners exploring optical sensing and its integration into future measurement systems.
Where the work stands
Updated October 2026
We have studied the optical feasibility of the approach and designed a photonic glucose chip as a worked example.
A design and its simulation are not a fabricated sensor. Glucose accuracy and clinical performance are still to be measured, and non-invasive and wearable use remain our direction, not a result.
Our next step is to define the physical experiment and the calibration conditions that will put the optical design to the test.
